Case Study

Camden, London

Lazenby’s Off White polished concrete floors feature inside and outside this elegant Grade 2 listed Georgian House refurbishment. Internally, the floors were master-crafted using the Lazenby method – see our video. Outside, the main contractor produced the formwork ready for Lazenby’s Off White concrete which was finished entirely by hand. This helped to give a slight texture which complied with the client and architect’s requirement of a slip resistance finish.

Project detail

Lazenby’s Off White polished concrete floors were laid over 115m², at a depth of 100mm, over an existing subbase The contemporary precision of concrete was juxtaposed with the quirkiness of the old building. The technical challenges of protecting existing surfaces and pumping concrete into this magnificent old property were considerable. Care was taken at every stage.

The various-sized external Off White concrete slabs covered 71m² and were all cast on-site at 100mm deep, over a pre-prepared subbase of compacted hardcore. The slabs were made to look like a stepping stone effect that fit elegantly into the surrounding garden, whilst also providing a consistent finish between the internal and external.
