Project detail

With the cost of timber rising, not to mention the environmental implications, REGA was searching for an alternative material that could be manufactured in the UK. Together, we created a specialist re-usable mould that we combined with a bespoke Glass fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) mix containing high amounts of GGBS. Using GRC allowed us to streamline the concrete thickness to 8mm leading to a 50% reduction in concrete and cement. It also minimises the product’s carbon impact.

Based on years of trials and development, this technique offers benefits beyond sustainability: the lightweight surround blends impressive structural integrity while enhancing performance to deliver better sound quality than traditional speakers.

And it looks good too! The stunning design is a streamlined 900mm tall with a custom concrete colour that effortlessly complements the steel grey speaker panel. The finish retains Lazenby’s trademark elegance with subtle variations making each product — over 1500 made so far — truly one-of-a-kind.

The REGA AYA loudspeakers offer game-changing sound with an elegant blend of technology, style and our iconic concrete craftsmanship.
