Architects James Gorst explains that “the umber polished concrete floor anchors walls of pale brick and lime mortar, set against the moiré patterning of Douglas Fir veneered panels.” They opted for a stripped-back palette “to allow the vibrancy of the external natural world to dominate.”

“As sunlight penetrates the rooms through large windows, the spaces are imbued with a sense of warmth,” adds the client. “This has the effect of making home life in Amento a harmonious and deeply pleasurable experience.”

With its impressive geometric design and an interior that effortlessly encapsulates the warm sophistication of Scandinavia, it’s no wonder that Amento has been shortlisted for the RIBA East Awards 2025.
