Case Study
Hackney Bay House
Hackney Bay House brings warmth and character to a thoughtfully renovated Victorian home in the heart of Hackney. 70 m² of soft pink tone runs throughout the open-plan ground floor, creating a calm sense of flow and continuity between living spaces.
Project detail
The soft pink tone grounds a palette of pale timber, creamy whites, and exposed brick, while a bold splash of blue in the kitchen adds a contemporary contrast. Together, the materials strike a quiet balance — warm, tactile, and full of personality.
“We wanted to make our home feel more open and bright,” say homeowners Max and Carry, “and to create an easier, more natural flow to the garden.” This connection is strengthened through a series of steps that link the split-level ground floor, leading the eye out toward the greenery beyond.
The result is a home that feels open yet intimate — a space shaped by colour, light, and the natural movement of everyday life.
At Hackney Bay House, colour and material come together in harmony — a celebration of individuality, light, and the joy of living beautifully.
The project features two sets of cast in situ steps, all finished in Lazenby’s signature Pink. The steps were cast as a 100mm cover over a blockwork sub step that was created by the main contractor. Once the concrete was poured, the formwork was removed and the surfaces polished. The entire project was set up and installed in just 4 days.
