Asticus House

In the heart of South West London, the Asticus Building opens into a reception space that feels almost cinematic — a calm, curving sweep of light, texture and movement. Beneath a canopy of ceiling beams, surrounded by warm architectural brass tones, 250 m² of Light Natural polished concrete forms the foundation of the entire experience.

The floor draws you in from the moment you enter: soft in colour, subtly reflective, and deliberately quiet so the architecture can speak. It grounds the airy, double-height glazing and gives the whole space a sense of composure — a moment of stillness in a busy city.

To honour the building’s signature crescent form, Lazenby collaborated with Iconic Build and Aukett Swanke to create a bespoke curved shuttering system. This precision allowed the concrete to trace the exact geometry of the sweeping feature wall, threading effortlessly around metal fins, uplighters and architectural details that appear seamlessly embedded within the surface.

The concrete flows into three lift reveals and over four concealed floor box lids, maintaining an uninterrupted visual language across the entire reception. Furnishings sit gently on the surface, their warm, tactile finishes contrasting beautifully with the cool clarity of the concrete.

A 100 mm void former was introduced beneath the slab to reduce depth, halving the concrete requirement and significantly lowering embodied carbon — a subtle but meaningful move toward more responsible construction.
