Case Study
Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Lazenby’s Cool Grey polished concrete floor runs throughout the 110m² ground floor accommodation, emphasising the architect’s free-flowing plan. Designed and built on the site of 12 x lock-up garages.
Project detail
Lazenby’s 100mm deep Cool Grey polished concrete was laid over underfloor heating and A252 reinforcing mesh. The C28/35 concrete, to BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500-2, has GGBS/cement substitutes to help with BREAM certification. This new self build factored in Lazenby’s polished concrete floors, on split levels, from the beginning.
The two steps, adjoining the split floor levels, were cast in-situ. Lazenby built the formwork and cast the step a few days after casting the floors. The joint plan was designed to have the expansion joints width-wise down the length of the long and narrow building in Kent.
