Project detail

A timber-clad rear extension opens into a bright, open-plan living space where 75 m² of Lazenby Polished Concrete flows effortlessly from indoors to out. The Cream Buff’s soft, natural hue brings warmth to the interior architecture, its gentle sheen capturing daylight and enhancing the home’s generous sense of space. While the surface area of the extension added only a few extra cubic metres, the new spatial flow of the open plan, angles of corner glazing breathe new life into the home. Rees Architects describe it as “an effortlessly functional, free-flowing space with an abundance of light and a seamless link to the garden.”

Concrete planters extend from the living area, subtly defining the terrace and softening the transition between house and landscape. Outside, a ten-metre exposed, polished concrete edge — hand-finished to mirror the interior — provides a confident architectural statement that feels both crafted and timeless.

The interior palette combines honesty and refinement: polished concrete floors, marble detailing, Microcement bathrooms and exposed timber surfaces create a balanced interplay of tone and texture.

At Aldersbrook House, every material choice contributes to a sense of quiet continuity — a home where craftsmanship, heritage and modern living come together in perfect equilibrium.
