CONCRETE STAIRS
Lazenby
Stairs
Concrete stairs provide an ideal method of linking levels by providing a continuation of the polished concrete flooring to help create a consistent flow throughout the space. There are a variety of ways of constructing concrete stairs depending on the design. This ranges from a fully freestanding Cast In Situ option, to Pre-Cast treads and risers which can be clad over an existing structure.Product

Cast in Situ or Pre-Cast?
Cast in Situ
Stairs
To ensure the best possible match to an adjacent floor, casting concrete stairs in-situ is typically the best option. Creating stairs in this method allows the treads to be polished by hand, ensuring there is consistency with the polished concrete floor. Most steps are created by installing a 100mm cover over an existing sub step however it is also possible to create completely free-standing staircases where the stringer and soffit are exposed.
As stairs are typically cast in one pour, this also allows us to create seamless pieces which are free from joints.
A cast in situ concrete staircase is the perfect solution for feature staircases to provide a statement piece. As the entire stair is built on site it means there are no limitations in terms of size or weight.
Due to the nature of concrete and the casting process, there are likely to be some small blow holes in any surface that cannot be hand polished.
Pre-Cast
Stairs
The versatility of concrete tiles makes them ideal for use over existing structures. The treads are cast by hand in our Yeovil factory and then laid over a sub base to form a capping system.Tiles can be created to form flat treads, treads and risers, L shaped treads, as well as many other styles. As each piece is made to the exact size, there is no cutting required on site which helps for a quick and simple installation.
The thickness of the tiles is typically 40mm although it is possible to increase this if required.
The inclusion of brass or stainless steel nosings is also a popular option in public spaces to comply with building regulations.
Due to the methods of constructing pre-cast items, the treads will never be a perfect match to the floor but are designed to offer a complimentary finish.
