This Paddington project, of Kohn Pedersen Fox (International) PA, included 280m² of Lazenby’s basalt polished concrete floor to dramatic effect. A composite floor made up of a runway strip of glazing blocks, exposed aggregate polished concrete floor panels and finished off with Lazenby’s polished concrete floor.

100mm basalt polished concrete floor overlays existing subbase. C35 concrete slabs reinforced with a single layer of A252 mesh. The joint plan for crack inducement joints was more complex due to the intrusion created by the existing elements of the floor whilst trying to maintain architectural streamline effect. Any intrusion within the concrete will create a weak point increasing the risk of cracking, this is overcome by our designed joint layout and additional reinforcement in those locations.
The Lazenby installation was the final element of the composite floor.
